Being on holiday doesn’t have to mean slipping into bad habits. It is possible to maintain the figure you worked so hard to get before embarking on your holiday!

First of all, it’s still a holiday, and that means that you should be having fun. Dieting should definitely not be high on your list of priorities! That said, when you come home looking sun-kissed and carefree, you want to make the most of that fantastic holiday glow. And if you’ve been indulging in junk food for the past two weeks, you probably won’t be feeling or looking your best!

Seasonal fruit
Whether you’re going away or staying at home, summer is often the best time for seasonal fruit. Check out what’s around, and stay refreshed on the beach or in the park with loads of fresh fruit – perfect for hot days! Lots of beaches, especially in Asia, have women selling fresh tropical fruit. And what better way to keep your sugar levels up without having to actually get up?

Beachside holidays are also a great excuse to sample fresh seafood, and it couldn’t be healthier either. When eating out, take advantage of all the fresh fish, and enjoy a couple of cocktails guilt-free afterwards.

Get outside
For some of us, exercise is not a chore. And if you love nothing more than a morning run, there’s nothing to say you can’t take your Reebok EasyTone trainers away with you.
Swimming in the sea when you need a break from sunbathing, or going for a beachfront walk, will also get your blood pumping again, so make sure you make the most of the holiday weather and get outside. The activity doesn’t have to be overly strenuous and a leisurely stroll along the beach is a great way to stay fit and see some spectacular views.

Care for your skin
Apart from eating well, you should make sure that everything else is in check – predominantly, your skin care. Make sure your sun cream is SPF 30 or higher – there isn’t much point in using anything lower if you’re going to be on the beach or in the sun most of the day – and keep it topped up. No-one wants to go home burnt to a crisp, or looking like a lobster in the all-important holidays snaps!
