Matte to Glossy Polish Experiment

I made an experiment on my Etude House Matte Nail polish in muddy grey.
(I don't know the real name of this shade so I just wanna call it muddy grey, okay? LOL. :p
You'll see the label below.)

I tried applying top coat / clear polish over the matte one and you'll see what it deed to my nails.

Here's how it looks like with base coat and 2 coats of matte polish.

Now I applied my favorite nail tip design using Bobbie's Electrified.

And applied 1 coat of clear polish / top coat.

After application, nothing's changed except for the color.
It looks a little bit yellow than it's original shade.

But, after 5 hours or less I noticed something on my thumb and pinky finger.
It looked damaged. Cracked to be exact.

Here's a closer look on my thumb.

I didn't do anything that might cause this. Maybe it's a chemical reaction.
I tried using my other Etude House matte polish with a clear top coat but it's okay.
Maybe this grey-ish matte polish has something that other polishes doesn't have eh?

Now I'm thinking of combining the two (top coat and matte polish),
I might just end up creating crackle polish. LOL.

Here are the things I've used.

House Matte Polish in Grey
Bobbie Electrify
Caronia Fast Dry Top Coat

Try it!
Let me know what if same thing happened to you :D

  5. Maybe the cracking is because of the top coat you used? Have you tried other top coats? :D

  10. Wow Bobbie Electrify looked well... electrifying lol. Interesting that applying topcoat on top of matte nail polish made your nails crack. Maybe that's how they came up with crackle polish haha. Following you now, mind following back? :>
