I am clearly aware that most of you don’t wear red lipstick that often, but when you do, you’d want it to be perfect and eye catching. Keep in mind that there are a lot of ways do this, but I would like to share with you how to achieve luscious red lips my way. :D
Step 1, apply lip balm in order to hydrate and soften your lips. Wait for the lip balm to dry. It would also be best if you use lip balms that are not waxy. (I’m using Alba un-petroleum cherry lip balm with SPF 18)
Step 2, apply lip liner all over your lips. Make sure to use a lip liner that doesn’t easily budge, this will serve as a good base for your red lipstick. If you don’t have perfectly shaped lips, use a nude lip liner to correctly shape your lips. (I’m using Maybelline moisture extreme lip liner pencil in Nude)
Step 3, apply your desired matte red lipstick all over your lips. Make sure to fill red lipstick on top of the lip liner you applied earlier. Best way to do this is by using a lip brush. I like to do this in layers to really get that precise red lip. First layer, make sure to really fill in the fine lines of your lips for that smooth lip effect. Second layer, make sure to correct mistakes and get the desired intensity of red lips. You can opt to stop here and just have an elegant matte red on your lips. (I’m using Revlon Matte Lipstick in “In the Red”)
Step 4, apply red lip gloss to get the desired luscious red lips. I prefer to use a pigmented red lip gloss but you can just use any lip gloss for that shiny effect. (I’m using NYX Goddess of the Night Mega shine lip gloss in Sunrise)
TIP: You can use a concealer to hide mistakes especially if it leaves a stain.
This is it for now.
