Recipe: My Homemade Chocolate Velvet Ice cream

Last March I was busy making homemade ice creams! How and why? My father bought us an ice cream maker when I was in 10 *I guess* and my mom didn't bother using it or even testing it. She always say... "Bumili nalang tayo, mas makakamura ka pa." Until I reach 20. LOL.

My boyfriend and I went to a grocery store and I secretly planned to buy some stuffs for my homemade icecream from my mom. Haha! *She would probably stop me from doing that.*

I planned to make the famous Chocolate ice cream. Who doesn't love the taste of creamy, mouthwatering chocolate ice cream? I'm a fan of anything that's flavored in chocolate! And I'm addicted to it!

So here it goes...

Ready in 1 hour, 8 Servings

Ingredients:
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup cocoa (or if you prefer to add a little more)
3 beaten egg yolks (I suggest you use pasteurized eggs)
2 2/3 cups heavy cream or 1/2 & 1/2
1/3 cups semi sweet chocolate chips (I used dark chocolate instead)
1/3 cup chocolate syrup (for garnish)

Directions:
1. In a large bowl, stir together sugar and cocoa.
2. Add egg yolks and blend with electric mixer.
3. Add cream a little at a time, beating well after each addition.
4. Chill mixture in refrigerator.
5. While cream mixture is chilling, grate chocolate chips in blender or food processor or using a rotary grater, until fine. Stir into cream mixture.
6. Freeze in canister of ice cream maker according to manufacturer's instructions.

If you don't have ice cream makers at home you can froze it over night in a plastic container. You can add different garnishes like brownies, mallows or nuts.

Please note: This ice cream recipe contains raw egg yolks so I recommend that pregnant women, young children, the elderly and the infirm do not consume raw eggs.

How about you? Have you tried making your own ice cream? :D
Hugs and kisses,
